Class Assignment- Article Response

Digital Natives Response
I agree that students growing up in this highly technological age need to be taught differently. The world isn't the same as it was even one year ago. New ways to teach age-old subjects are expanding every day. There are so many new technologies at our fingertips that we can utilize to aid in teaching our students. I think it is important to look at these new ways of teaching and use them in our future classrooms. Not every student learns the same way. Different forms of learning can be implemented in the classroom to help each student grasp the concepts.
The one thing that I didn't like about this article is how much the author emphasized using technology to teach students. It seemed to me like he felt that these new ways of teaching were the only way to teach. To me, I like to make things real. That helps me to learn. I think that when things are learned "virtually" sometimes they seem "virtual" instead of real. I am going to teach Biology and technology would be great to help students dive into the cellular world or clear up to ecosystems, but there needs to be real-world back-up. I think it is important for students to have things they can touch and see. This was a great article with great ideas that I will need to think about as I prepare to be a teacher.
