A little about me

My name is Tamra Grover. I am a senior in Biological Science- Composite Teaching at Utah State University. I grew up in a small town in Emery County, Utah that not many people have heard of. In high school I enjoyed playing volleyball, throwing the javelin, singing in the choir, and managing the wrestling team. Outside of high school I enjoyed spending time with my friends and family. The usual hangouts for my friends and me were on the desert with a bonfire, the local Maverick store, and on all the new oil field roads we could explore. My family and I enjoy spending time in the outdoors and spend a lot of time hunting and fishing or having other family get-togethers. This past summer has been the best of my life. On June 4, 2011 I married the most wonderful man I have ever met, and then I dragged him to Logan with me until I finish school.
I came to Utah State in the fall of 2008 and have enjoyed my time here. I will finish a biology teaching degree this Spring and then hope to get a teaching job in South-Eastern Utah. I enjoy biology because I love to know how things work. I love to observe things in nature and think about all the intricacies involved in their functioning. Biology is defined as the study of life which, to me, makes it one of the most important subjects we can study. I love to question, investigate, and learn and I hope I can help my students gain that same passion.
I enjoy teaching as I have experienced it so far and hope that I continue to enjoy it as I have throughout my entire career. These experiences drew me to teaching as a career and my experiences in college helped me to choose biology as my subject. In high school I took AP Biology and hated every minute of it. As I started college as a Wildlife Science major I was required to take a general biology class where I was able to really learn biology and learn to love it. When I began to question my choice of wildlife science I was drawn to biology teaching because of this positive experience. I hope I can create a positive experience for my future students.
